* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 6 to 10 feet, with sets up to 12 feet. Highest surf Wednesday in San Diego County. Minor coastal flooding will also be a threat. High rip current risk. * WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas and Orange County Coastal Areas. * WHEN...Until 10 PM PST Friday. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. High rip current risk. Minor tidal overflow into parking lots and boardwalks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Surf will peak Wednesday, especially for San Diego County. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins, jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards and beach patrol flags and signs. Information: Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. |
