* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions. It will also be humid through the weekend. Afternoon temperatures 108 to 119 expected. Major to Extreme Heat Risk. * WHERE...Portions of southwest Arizona and southeast California. * WHEN...Until 8 PM MST /8 PM PDT/ Saturday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. Overexposure can cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion to develop and, without intervention, can lead to heat stroke. Information: An Extreme Heat Warning means that a period of very hot temperatures, even by local standards, will occur. Actions should be taken to lessen the impact of the extreme heat. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Public cooling shelters are available in some areas. Temperatures increase another few degrees into the middle and end of next week, making for a prolonged and dangerous stretch of heat. * WHERE...Orange County Inland Areas, Riverside County Mountains, San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys-The Inland Empire, San Diego County Mountains, San Diego County Valleys, and Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills. * WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, until 10 AM PDT Tuesday. For the Extreme Heat Watch, from Tuesday morning through Friday evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Low temperatures 5 to 10 degrees above normal will limit relief from the heat. Increasing temperatures into the middle of next week will increase the threat of heat-related illness across populations.
